Chelsea vs Real Madrid - Highlight

Southampton captain Matt Le Tissier has resigned as ambassador to the club after backing controversial allegations of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Le Tissier shared a conspiracy theory believed to have deliberately killed civilians in Bucha and elsewhere before Russian troops withdrew.

The 53-year-old used a one-finger emoji pointing to his official Twitter account with the word "this" and events to the media "lied" on Twitter.

He later deleted the post, saying "the point is manipulating the media."

Le Tissier, who played for the Saints between 1986 and 2002, tweeted on Wednesday: "Let me be clear: I do not support the war in any way.

"I do not urge anyone to commit suicide. Anyone who commits such an act should be punished accordingly. Cruelty has a devastating effect on the families of the dead and on all of us."

He later added: "I have decided to withdraw all [Southampton Football Club] fans as SFC Ambassador. My views are my own and it is important to take this step today to avoid confusion.

"It does not hurt my love for the club and I'll always be a big fan of all the saints.

"But I think it's important to separate the work I believe in from the relationship between the team I helped and the team I have supported all my life because of recent events.

"I'll see you in St. Mary and I will always do my best to help the club."
