Athletic Club vs Elche - 6:30 PM

Gary Neville says leaving Manchester United's attack will kill Mark Rashford after the Red Devils drew 1-1 with Leicester City.

Ralf Rangnick's side have been without injury and injury to Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani, but Rashford was on the bench in the first 55 minutes as United shattered expectations of United's top four.

Rashford has scored just four goals and two assists in a disappointing Premier League season, leaving half of his 20 league appearances on the bench.

In fact, the 24-year-old has scored all four of his league goals this season, and Rashford has been left out of Gareth Southgate's last England squad due to his poor form.

Recognizing Rashford's recent decline, Neville questioned whether he was left out for speaking on the role of striker at the club during a crucial assessment of United's performance.

"I struggle with this system without a central attack," Neville told Sky Sports.

"It simply came to our notice then. I do not play for that team.

"I know he is in bad shape and I know he lacks confidence, but for Cristiano Ronaldo to resign this morning and not just replace Paul Pogba, but change the system, not just Mark Rashford. After 10 days of training with the players,

"In general, there is a lot of uncertainty at the club - will talks with Harry McGuire, Mark Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, Cavani and new manager Ralf Rangnick be at the end of the season?

"They just need to finish the season, but it will not be easy. Everyone is watching. This is Manchester United and there is no place to hide. It was very rough today."

Rangnic has admitted that Rashford's lack of confidence was "no secret", although the VAR, which could have been exacerbated after United looked tired for another disappointing outcome, did not deny that Rashford's lack of confidence was "a secret."

However, the caretaker manager has defended his decision to keep Rashford on the bench after the substitution, saying "choosing Pogba at a higher level is a tactical choice."

"We are the only striker Markus," Rangnick told Sky Sports. "We knew Cristiano could not play this morning and decided to start Paul Pogba.

After 60 minutes we made a change and there was a central striker on the pitch. It's no secret that he [Rashford] has not been completely confident in the last few weeks.

"He is training with us and he looks good in training. Yesterday we had a question between Paul and Markus and decided to go with him."

United have won just one of their last six matches in all competitions, drawing three and losing two, winning four and drawing three of their last seven.
