If Atletico Madrid do not qualify for the Champions League, Diego Simeone is ready to take over.
The day Atletico saw their La Liga title taken by bitter rivals Real Madrid, they lost 2-0 to Atletico Bio in the San Marques.
They remain in fourth place after the defeat, but if Real Betis in fifth place beat Getafe on Monday, they can close the gap.
Los Colchoneros have won three of their last four matches against defending champions Madrid. Sevilla and Real Sociedad will face a tough race.
Asked if he was worried about winning the top four at a media conference, Simeone said: "It's mine. You should know how to live through difficult times, and only a few in recent years.
"We will see who is going up at this difficult time. I have a responsibility. I am the first to make sure that does not happen.
"Everyone needs to stay calm. There are four games left."
Mario Hamoso's early own goal and Inaki Williams' second-half penalty gave Atletico a valuable victory.
The result means Atletico have failed to score in their last two La Liga games, the first time since October 2020 that they have drawn with Huesca and Villarreal.
Simeone says he has no doubts about his efforts and does not want to be in the top four.
"The first minutes were bad and the team got better," he said. "Their first goal came with Hermoso. Carrasco's attack was the same but wider. These are important details.
"How they train," he said. How does it work? Needless to say, if you see us doing what we say we will do.
"I have worries and a desire to reach the club's goal."
Atletico will host Los Blancos in El Derbi on May 8 at Wanda Metropolitano.
